Minimum age
You can apply at 18. Applicants from 18 until 21 are restricted to driving in Georgia only. On or after the 21st birthday, the Georgia-only restriction is removed at a customer service center.
CLP fee
A Class AP or BP commercial learner permit is $10 and, on or after July 1, 2021, is valid for 365 days. The $10 is paid before the test begins. It is not refunded if any part of the test is failed, and it is paid again before every testing attempt.
CDL fee
A Class A, B, or C commercial license is $32 for eight years. Every commercial license also requires a $35 application fee. A license with an H or X endorsement is limited to five years. Online services may take $5 off an eligible transaction. That discount is not included in the listed fees.
Skills-test fee
The road skills test is $50. The applying page says the $35 application fee covers four test attempts. After the fourth failed attempt, or if 360 days pass between attempts, a new application and another $35 are required.
ELDT
Beginning February 7, 2022, the page says entry-level driver training applies to a first Class A or Class B, an upgrade to a higher class, and a new school bus, passenger, or hazmat endorsement. A first-time or upgrade applicant holds a Class AP or BP permit for 14 days before applying for the full CDL.
Medical card
Effective June 18, 2025, DDS no longer accepts medical certificates by mail, fax, email, online, or in person. The medical examiner on the National Registry submits the certificate, and FMCSA transmits it to DDS.

Is the minimum age in Georgia 21?

Use the age sentence on this page. It is the age the state page stated. Interstate work can still have a different federal age.

Does this page issue the license?

No. Georgia DDS: fees and terms is the licensing source. This page does not take an application.
