CDL training cost in Wisconsin
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Wisconsin licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- The section sets a general instruction permit at $20, a Class M instruction permit at $22, and a Class D instruction permit at $25. It does not print a separate commercial learner permit line. Section 343.21(1)(n) adds a $10 issuance fee on top of any other fee for an instruction permit.
- CDL fee
- Initial issuance or renewal of authorization to operate Class A, Class B, or Class C vehicles is $64. That fee includes an H, N, P, or T endorsement applied for at the same time. An S endorsement applied for at the same time is an additional $5. Section 343.21(1)(n) adds a $10 issuance fee on top of any other issuance or renewal fee.
- Skills-test fee
- Section 343.21(2) sets the driving skills examination fee at $20 for a commercial motor vehicle other than a school bus. That payment covers no more than three tests. The license fees above are charged in addition to it.

Named program charges
No school in Wisconsin has a program charge reprinted here. A directory listing is not a price. Ask the school for a written quote for the class, location, and schedule you want.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Wisconsin?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Wisconsin license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Wisconsin school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
