CDL training cost in Texas
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Texas licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- Original commercial learner permit is $25 and expires 180 days after issuance. Renewal is $25. The fee page says a $1 administrative fee is included in these amounts and is not charged for a mail transaction. The permit must be held 14 days before the skills exams.
- CDL fee
- For ages 18 through 84, a new or renewal commercial license is $97 and expires in eight years. With a hazardous materials endorsement, new or renewal is $61 and expires in five years. At age 85 or older, new or renewal is $26 and expires in two years. The same $1 administrative fee note applies. Replacement of a CDL or CLP is $11.

Named program charges
No school in Texas has a program charge reprinted here. A directory listing is not a price. Ask the school for a written quote for the class, location, and schedule you want.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Texas?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Texas license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Texas school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
