License fees on the official page

CLP fee
The application fee for the written tests is $10. That fee covers the knowledge and endorsement tests taken at the same time. Another required test not taken and passed then is an additional $5. The page describes this as the fee when you apply for an original Class A or B commercial permit.
Skills-test fee
The road test fee is $40. It can be paid when the office issues the commercial learner permit, or later online.

Named program charges

No school in New York has a program charge reprinted here. A directory listing is not a price. Ask the school for a written quote for the class, location, and schedule you want.

Questions drivers ask

How much does CDL training cost in New York?

This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.

Are the New York license fees the whole bill?

No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.

Does a directory listing include the price?

No. A listing in the New York school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
