CDL training cost in Minnesota
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Minnesota licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- A commercial learner’s permit is $8.50. The commissioner also collects a $2.25 surcharge on each fee in that subdivision.
- CDL fee
- The classified-license table lists Class A at $46.75, Class B at $38.75, and Class C at $31.75. An under-21 Class A license is $26.75. Each of those amounts also has the $2.25 surcharge. A school bus endorsement adds a $4 processing fee for a new applicant or a renewal, and the department must not charge those applicants another fee to receive or renew that endorsement. A driver’s license agent may also charge a filing fee under section 171.061. This section does not print that filing-fee dollar.

Named program charges
No school in Minnesota has a program charge reprinted here. A directory listing is not a price. Ask the school for a written quote for the class, location, and schedule you want.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Minnesota?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Minnesota license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Minnesota school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
