CDL training cost in Kansas
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Kansas licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- K.S.A. 8-240 charges $5 for an instruction-permit application for all commercial classes. The Department of Revenue chart lists that $5 issuance fee and an $8 photo fee for a commercial permit.
- CDL fee

- Skills-test fee
- K.S.A. 8-240 charges commercial class applicants a $15 driving-test fee for the drive-test portion of the application. The drive test has three components: pre-trip, skills, and road. Named program charges
- Johnson County Community College CDL-A program: $6,999 program cost. The college identifies permit, license, and student-screening charges outside the program price. Checked 2026-10-26. This is that program’s published charge, not a Kansas average.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Kansas?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Kansas license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Kansas school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
