CDL training cost in Colorado
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Colorado licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- The June 30, 2026 fee schedule lists the learner permit, including the commercial learner permit, at $20. The commercial permit is valid for one year and cannot be renewed.
- CDL fee
- The same schedule lists the commercial driver license fee at $35. The CDL page says a commercial license is valid for four years from issuance.

Named program charges
- Aims Community College Class A course: $3,500 course cost. The page lists this course cost for the weekday, weekend, and English Language Learner Class A options. It does not include the $120 orientation fee for the background check and drug test. Checked 2026-10-29. This is that program’s published charge, not a Colorado average.
- Aims Community College Class B course: $1,800 course cost. The page lists a 28-hour Class B course at this cost. The $120 orientation fee is separate and is due at orientation, before registration. Checked 2026-10-29. This is that program’s published charge, not a Colorado average.
- Aims Community College Class B to Class A upgrade: $3,500 full Class A course cost. The page says an upgrade requires the full Class A training class. A recent Aims Class B graduate may qualify for a discount. The page does not print that discount. Everyone else pays the full Class A course cost. The $120 orientation fee is separate. Checked 2026-10-29. This is that program’s published charge, not a Colorado average.
- Aims Community College CMVOST Grant, Fort Lupton, Colorado. Aims says the CMVOST Grant can cover 100 percent of tuition and required program fees for eligible current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses or children. The person must already be admitted to the CDL program. It is not a grant for every Colorado resident. The grant application can only be made after admission. A separate $120 orientation fee covers the background check and drug test and is due at orientation, before registration, so plan to pay that fee up front. The page also lists a hazmat endorsement theory course at $125. That amount is not the Class A or Class B course cost. Checked 2026-10-29.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Colorado?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Colorado license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Colorado school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
