CDL training cost in Alaska
License fees and school charges are different bills. The fee lines below are copied from the Alaska licensing source opened . They are not a tuition estimate, and they are not added together into one “total cost.”
License fees on the official page
- CLP fee
- An instruction permit, commercial or non-commercial, is $15. The listed classes include IA, IB, and IC. Renewal of that permit is $5. The page says there is no REAL ID version of the instruction permit.
- CDL fee
- A commercial driver license, required to be REAL ID compliant, is $100 for the standard credential and $120 for REAL ID. Renewal is the same pair of amounts. Classes listed are A, B, and C. A duplicate CDL is $15 standard or $35 REAL ID.
- Skills-test fee
- A road test in a commercial vehicle is $25.

Named program charges
No school in Alaska has a program charge reprinted here. A directory listing is not a price. Ask the school for a written quote for the class, location, and schedule you want.

Questions drivers ask
How much does CDL training cost in Alaska?
This page does not publish a statewide tuition. The license amounts are the lines on the official fee source checked October 29, 2026. A school price appears only when a named program page was already checked, and that price is not a quote for another school.
Are the Alaska license fees the whole bill?
No. A permit, a license card, a skills test, a medical exam, and a school charge are different payments. If one of those lines was missing from the licensing page, it is not filled in from another state.
Does a directory listing include the price?
No. A listing in the Alaska school directory is not a tuition quote and not a funded seat.
